Certificate II in Transport and Distribution (Coastal Maritime Operations - Coxswain)
Certificate II in Maritime
A great introduction to the world of skippering your own (or someone else’s) vessel, be it commercial or recreational. The coxswain course is jammed packed full of essential topics to get you and your crew safely from point A to point B on the water. Focusing on coastal waters this course will prepare you for that weekend trip or multi-journey dream of many to cruise the coast of Australia and beyond. It will also, when completed, provide you with the Certificate II training requirements for obtaining your Coxswain Licence (Certificate of Competency) from your local State or Territory Maritime Authority.
Coxswains licence holders typically skipper water taxis, yachts, work boats, diving, fishing and environmental sampling vessels.
Many people in volunteer rescue associations also hold this qualification.
A very important unit in this course is ‘Survive at sea in the event of vessel abandonment’ which you can find in all our courses.
