This course builds on the operational skills developed in the Certificate IV Human Resources course or through work experience in an operational HR role. It provides the skills and knowledge for managing HR functions in a small to medium sized workplace. It examines best practice in policy development and in aligning HR policy, procedures and programs with the strategic directions of the organisation.

The units of study focus on the management of, as distinct from the operations of, a range of HR functions. They include recruitment, performance management, remuneration, separations and employee relations. Strategic alignment of workforce plans, analysing the benefits of outsourcing HR functions as well as leading and managing the organisation through change complete the course.

Career opportunities

This course provides the entry-level qualification to a career in Human Resources. It is also relevant to line managers who manage a team.
